Berry College students are connecting with the local community through creative writing and poetry reading events in March and April.

Utterances, a young writer’s workshop for kindergarten to 12th grade students, will be every Tuesday beginning March 19 through April 23. It will be from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Sara Hightower Regional Library. This free creative writing workshop will be run by Berry students and will help children learn more about poetry, script writing, nonfiction, fiction and comics. The workshop will be in the Coosa room which is just inside the main library entrance and to the left. Basic writing supplies will be provided.

Also, don’t miss a family-friendly open mic poetry night hosted by the Berry College creative writing department at 7 p.m. Sunday (March 24) at the Makervillage Warehouse (252 N 5th Ave. in Rome.)  This event that is sponsored by the Hearst Foundation and a $5 entrance fee is required.
