Georgia Legal Food Frenzy Competition Kicks Off Today

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Monday, April 22nd, 2019

The 2019 Georgia Legal Food Frenzy kicks off April 22 and runs through May 3. This two week food and fund drive competition is in partnership with the Georgia Attorney General, the State Bar of Georgia, the Young Lawyers Division and the Georgia Food Bank Association. The competition is open to anyone in the legal community. Everything raised stays local and benefits the regional food bank that serves your community. To register, visit GALegalFoodFrenzy.org.

One in five children in Georgia lives in a food insecure household. While nearly 63% of Georgia’s public school students are eligible for either a free or reduced breakfast or lunch each day, only 17% have access to the lunch program during the summer. The competition is timed to help the food banks move into summer prepared and well-stocked to meet the increased demand for food from working families.

This year Attorney General Chris Carr issued a Billable Hour Challenge for all Legal Food Frenzy participants: “I challenge each lawyer across the state to donate the equivalent of one billable hour during the competition. It’s that simple. One billable hour to provide meals to kids who need them over the summer. One hour to help us end hunger across Georgia.”
