Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, May 29th, 2019

There will be a free Hurricane Preparedness Expo on Saturday, June 1st from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. for coastal area residents in Savannah, Ga. The event will be sponsored by the Georgia Department of Insurance, WJCL- 22 TV, Chatham County Emergency Management Agency, and Home Depot.

Since hurricane season begins next month (June 1), the Savannah Area Hurricane Preparedness Expo will focus on providing information and advice regarding preparations homeowners, business owners, and renters can take to help reduce substantial damage to their property and alleviate potential financial hardships.

The Department of Insurance has put on this expo for the past 21 years. Attending this expo will be an excellent opportunity for residents near the coast to get hands-on, in-person training from some of the experts in the industry on how to protect themselves and their possessions in the event of a catastrophic storm.

Over 25 exhibitors (local and state agencies), first responders, and insurance companies will be present to provide free intel to Georgians in the parking lot of the Home Depot located on Abercorn Street. There will be demonstrations from vendors, seminars, discussions on processing insurance claims, and even giveaways taking place at the Expo. The big ticket giveaway will be a 43 in, 4k TV courtesy of WJCL. The Salvation Army will be providing food and refreshments for the event.
