In 2017, the Georgia Municipal Association established Georgia City Solutions, Inc. (GCS), a non-profit organization to fund initiatives that will help build vibrant, economically prosperous and well-managed cities and improve the quality of life of municipal residents.

Last month, a 13-member task force, appointed by GMA President Linda Blechinger and chaired by Macon-Bibb County Mayor Robert Reichert, presented recommendations to the Board of Directors on specific programs this new 501 (c)(3) organization should undertake. Included in the report were more than 20 recommendations focused on supporting workforce and youth leadership development, promoting careers in city government and providing training and assistance in the areas of housing, redevelopment and mental and behavioral health.
