New Berry College Math and Science Dean Announced

Berry College Professor and Chair of Chemistry and Biochemistry Alice Suroviec has been named Dean of the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences following a national search that attracted a robust pool of candidates.

Suroviec joined Berry in the fall of 2007, and was promoted to full professor in 2019. She has served as chair of the department of chemistry and biochemistry since 2016 and is the recipient of the First Year Advocate Award as well as the Dave and Lu Garrett Award for Meritorious Teaching.

She has published 11 articles in peer-reviewed journals and three book chapters while at Berry. Suroviec has been active in the Electrochemical Society, and currently serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of the Electrochemical Society and Chair of the Committee on Diversity and Inclusivity.

Suroviec will assume the position on July 1.
