Dr. Dawit Assefa Weldemichael Named Medical Director at Floyd Behavioral Health

Dawit Assefa Weldemichael, M.D., has been named Medical Director of Floyd Behavioral Health. He will also see patients at Floyd Outpatient Behavioral Health at 304 Shorter Ave. in Rome.

Dr. Weldemichael earned his Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Science degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Addis Ababa University.

He completed his Residency at Saint Louis University School of Medicine in Saint Louis, Missouri and a sleep medicine fellowship at Washington University in St Louis Missouri. 

Before coming to Floyd, he was an attending physician and Medical Director of Neuropsychiatric Services at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri.

“I am excited for Dr. Weldemichael to be here at Floyd Behavioral Health because he will provide us some stability with our providers and he brings a wealth of psychiatric experience,” said Charmaine Thomas, Administrator of Floyd Behavioral Health. “The staff is excited that he is here. He is a very good clinician with a large knowledge base and he has a very good bedside manner.”
