Kerry Group to Expand in Floyd County, Invest $125M

Governor Brian P. Kemp announced that Kerry Group will expand its operations in Rome, Georgia, investing $125 million, its largest-ever capital expenditure investment. The project will employ more than 400 people during the construction phase and more than 100 new full-time positions when the facility is fully operational.

Georgia Film Office Launches New Website, Celebrates Record-breaking Results at State Capitol

The Georgia Film Office, a division of the Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), yesterday celebrated with legislators and industry partners the positive impact and record-breaking year the film industry had in the state at the annual Film Day at the Capitol. Georgia is one of the top film production centers in the world, and the industry posted a record $2.9 billion in direct investment during the last fiscal year.

64,000 Georgians Successfully Voted Early on New Voting Machines

In just three days of early voting, more than 64,000 Georgians have voted in person on the Peach State’s secure and verifiable paper-ballot voting system. In the two early voting days since Monday, the number of Georgians who have voted early on the new system has increased more than 3.5 times.

Lawmakers Make Changes to State’s Dual Enrollment Program

Lawmakers Take No Action on Bill Regarding Daylight Savings

Health, safety and consistency were mentioned over and over Tuesday as Legislators listened to testimony on House Bill 709 which would direct the state to hold a non-binding referendum asking Georgia residents if they would like to do away with daylight saving time. A non-binding referendum is a ballot question used to inform the state government about potential future action.

USDA Invests $5M in Broadband for Rural Georgia Communities

Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced a $5 million investment in two, high-speed broadband infrastructure projects that will create or improve rural e-Connectivity for 1,221 rural households, 32 pre-subscribed businesses and 20 pre-subscribed farms in McIntosh and Evans counties in Georgia.

Mannington Mills to Expand, Create 268 Jobs in Gordon Co.

Governor Brian P. Kemp announced a $22 million expansion by flooring manufacturer Mannington Mills, Inc. in Gordon County due to increased customer demand for domestically produced luxury vinyl flooring. Mannington Mills purchased a 10.5-acre site in Calhoun that will expand upon the company’s manufacturing presence in the state and create 268 jobs.
