Gov. Nathan Deal nominated Gretchen Corbin to serve as President and CEO of the Georgia Lottery Corp. following the announcement of current President and CEO Debbie D. Alford’s departure. Pending approval of the Georgia Lottery Corp. Board of Directors, this change will take effect on January 1. Deal also nominated Technical College System of Georgia Deputy Commissioner Matt Arthur to fill the position of TCSG commissioner. Pending TCSG board approval, this change will take effect on January 1.
 
“The critical programs funded by the Georgia Lottery, including the HOPE Scholarship and Georgia Pre-K, help millions of children across the state earn a quality education from start to finish,” said Deal. “Debbie’s leadership helped to secure the largest funding transfers on record in the 24-year history of the lottery, providing more students with a strong foundation for continued success both in the classroom and the future workforce. I am confident that the incoming leadership at the Georgia Lottery, as well as TCSG, will continue to do exceptional work in connecting students throughout Georgia with the resources and support needed to reach their fullest potential.”
 
Gretchen Corbin – President and CEO, Georgia Lottery Corp.

Corbin is currently the commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia. She was previously the commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and deputy commissioner of the Global Commerce Division for the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Corbin sits on the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute External Advisory Board, the University of Georgia (UGA) Board of Visitors and the Fanning Advisory Board for the J. W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development at UGA. She served as president and chair of Leadership Georgia. Corbin is a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow and has been named one of the “100 Most Influential Georgians” by Georgia Trend Magazine for four consecutive years. She is a graduate of Clemson University and the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute. Corbin and her husband, David, have two children and reside in Rome.
 
Matt Arthur – Commissioner, Technical College System of Georgia

Arthur has served as the deputy commissioner of TCSG since January 2015. He was previously the director of education reform for the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget. During his career, Arthur has worked as a teacher, coach, director of career and technical education, assistant principal and secondary principal. He was also the superintendent of the Rabun County School District for 13 years. Arthur has held leadership roles with the Georgia School Superintendents Association and Georgia’s Education Reform Commission. He is a member of the Georgia Children’s Cabinet, the REACH Georgia Foundation Board of Directors and the Georgia Center for Early Language and Literacy Board. Arthur represents Georgia on the Southern Regional Education Board. He received the University of Georgia College of Education Lifetime Achievement Award and was recognized as a Post-Graduate Scholar by the National Football Foundation. Arthur is a graduate of the University of Georgia and played on the 1980 national championship football team. He and his wife, Margie, have two children and live in Rabun County.
