The Georgia Chamber of Commerce commends Governor Brian Kemp on his efforts to address the state’s uninsured population and struggling rural health care providers. The Georgia Chamber recognizes Senate Bill 106: Patients First Act as a legislative priority and a Scorecard bill for the 2019 legislative session.

Today, Governor Brian Kemp signed SB 106 on the North Wing Stairs of the Georgia State Capitol, after being approved by the Georgia State Senate and Georgia State House of Representatives. The legislation will enable the Kemp administration to engage with the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services on both an 1115 waiver to expand health access under the state’s Medicaid program, as well as a waiver under the federal 1332 program to help assist Georgians struggling to afford insurance on the federal insurance exchange.
