U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., announced the annual statewide U.S. Military Service Academy Day will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, Ga., in coordination with the Georgia congressional delegation.

This event, which is the largest of its kind in the United States, is designed to help students with the application and nomination process for our nation’s five military service academies.

Military Service Academy Day brings hundreds of students from across the state in grades eight through 12 and their parents. Due to Dobbins Air Reserve Base security restrictions, all attendees must register by April 16 at 5 p.m. to be admitted to attend the event.

“I am excited to once again host this special opportunity for Georgia students who are interested in pursuing a nomination to our nation’s service academies to hear directly from the experts,” said Sen. Isakson. “When students hear from representatives from each academy, they are better prepared to apply for their desired academy or learn more about other academies. Students often leave with a new appreciation for applying to more than one academy to benefit their future plans.”

Among the members of the Georgia congressional delegation who are currently scheduled to participate are U.S. Representatives Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga.-11, and Rob Woodall, R-Ga.-07.

“Being accepted into one of our nation’s prestigious military academies is life-altering, and the application and nominations process can be daunting,” said Rep. Loudermilk. “I’m excited to participate again with my friend and colleague, Senator Johnny Isakson, in Military Academy Day. Helping the young men and women who aspire to serve our nation is a very fulfilling part of representing Georgia’s 11th Congressional District.”

Woodall. “Every year I am inspired by the commitment, drive and patriotism of these young men and women from across Georgia who seek to honorably serve their country and defend freedom. This event serves as one of those reminders for me that America’s best days are indeed ahead.”

During the program, students will see presentations of requirements and expectations for admittance from representatives from all five academies, including admissions directors from the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy, an admissions officer from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the deputy director of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Medical Examinations Review Board.
