Georgia’s State Election Board has invited Dominion Voting Systems to discuss the installation of the new statewide voting system for the 2020 election cycle and lessons learned. Representatives from Dominion will join the Secretary of State at the State Election Board meeting on Wednesday, February 24 via webinar. The meeting also provides an opportunity to address some of the unverified rumors and rampant disinformation that remain regarding the November 2020 election.

“Georgia ran a historically secure, effective, and reliable election last year, and Dominion Voting Systems was a key part of that,” said Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who also serves as chair of the State Election Board. “I look forward to speaking with Dominion during the State Election Board meeting and clearing up any remaining questions that voters might have from November. We are looking forward to once again putting nonsensical rumors, like voting machines switching votes, to rest.”

Dominion Voting Systems is an American-owned company that created Georgia’s new paper-ballot voting system. After nearly twenty years of an all-digital system with no paper backup, Georgia’s legislature authorized the selection of a paper ballot-based system through passage of HB 316.

Through a competitive and public bidding process, Dominion Voting Systems was awarded the contract for the state’s new paper-ballot system. In just a short few months, Dominion worked with the Secretary of State’s office to deliver the necessary equipment to voting locations all around the state.

The Dominion system gave Georgia’s elections officials tools to ensure that the outcome tallied by the system was in fact the correct one, after having no paper backup for nearly twenty years. The state has verified the accuracy of the voting machines and the 2020 election results in multiple ways, including:

• Shortly after the November election, the Secretary of State’s office ordered a full hand recount of Georgia’s presidential election as part of the state’s planned audit of a statewide election. The full hand recount confirmed the outcome as originally tallied

• A machine recount requested by the Trump campaign confirmed the outcome as originally tallied.

• An audit of the equipment in six counties in the weeks after the election by a federally-accredited Voting System Test Laboratory “found no evidence of the machines being tampered.”

• The integrity and accuracy of Dominion’s systems in Georgia was confirmed by an independent data analysis released by the Mitre National Election Security Lab on February 19, 2021 that “found no evidence of fraud, manipulation, or uncorrected error.”

Georgia is recognized as a national leader in elections. It was the first state in the country to implement the trifecta of automatic voter registration, at least 16 days of early voting (which has been called the “gold standard”), and no-excuse absentee voting. Georgia continues to set records for voter turnout and election participation, seeing the largest increase in average turnout of any other state in the 2018 midterm election and record turnout in 2020, with over 1.3 million absentee by mail voters and over 3.6 million in-person voters utilizing Georgia’s new, secure, paper ballot voting system.
