Atrium Health Floyd Easing Visitation Restrictions

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022

As COVID-19 cases drop in the community, Atrium Health Floyd is easing visitation restrictions for many patients, effective today.

The most significant changes include:

  • Adult patients of all departments, including Primary Care and Urgent Care, will be permitted one visitor over the age of 18. Last year, Atrium Heath Floyd had adopted a no-visitor policy at those sites because of rising COVID-19 numbers.
  • Pediatric patients will be permitted two legal guardians or parent visitors.
  • Some COVID-19 patients at Floyd Medical Center are permitted one designated visitor up to two hours a day.

Most people receiving in-patient care at Floyd Medical Center, Polk Medical Center and Cherokee Medical Center will continue to be allowed one designated visitor. Requests for additional visitors due to special circumstances, such as end-of-life, will be considered on a case-by-case basis

All visitors should wear a surgical or medical grade mask, practice hand hygiene and observe social distancing. They will be provided an appropriate mask if they don't have one. Visitors with flu-like symptoms and those with a positive or pending COVID-19 test will not be granted access.

“We realize how important visitors are to the physical, mental and emotional well-being of our patients," said Sheila Bennett, Executive Vice President and Chief of Patient Services at Atrium Health Floyd. “These guidelines are designed to protect our teammates and our patients, while providing the best possible care."
