4 Residency Graduates to Provide Care at Atrium Health Floyd

Eight physicians have graduated from the Floyd Family Medicine Residency Program, and four of those will remain in the community to provide care.
The eight graduates are Dr. Benjamin Steven Bell, Dr. Romy Jayendra Bhagat, Dr. Trever Ray Biles, Dr. Ashley Dawn Corey, Dr. Diego Fernando Herrera, Dr. Logan Caleb Minshew, Dr. Ra'Shead Shakaer Pompey, and Dr. Jordan Moss Simpson. Dr. Herrera and Dr. Minshew served as chief residents.
Two graduating physicians are joining Floyd Primary Care Cartersville:
Dr. Bhagat, who earned a Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica
Dr. Corey, who earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Two graduates are joining InCompass Health in Rome to provide care as hospitalists at Floyd Medical Center:
Dr. Minshew, who earned a Doctor of Medicine from the American University of Integrative Sciences School of Medicine in Bridgetown, Barbados
Dr. Simpson, who earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee, Georgia
“Our program provides physicians with robust training in all areas of family medicine and gives them the opportunity to practice in multiple locations across our healthcare system. It's exciting to have these graduating physicians choose to stay with our organization and in the community," said Dr. Kelly Culbertson, Program Director/Designated Institutional Official of Floyd Family Medicine Residency.
Other graduates of the program include:
Dr. Bell who earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee, Georgia. He will complete a Rural Critical Care Fellowship with Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana.
Dr. Biles who earned a Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. He will be in private practice in Griffin, Georgia.
Dr. Herrera who earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He will complete a Sports Medicine Fellowship with Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Dr. Pompey who earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee, Georgia. He will join Wills Memorial Hospital in Washington, Georgia.
About Floyd Family Medicine Residency Program
The Floyd Family Medicine Residency Program trains physicians in the specialty of family medicine. The program, established in 1976, provides three years of academic and clinical post-doctoral education to medical school graduates and offers hands-on experience to residents in preparation for full-time medical careers.
