Every state had unemployment claims last week that were lower than in the previous week except for Utah, Georgia, Washington, West Virginia, New York, Texas, Rhode Island, Delaware, California, Michigan, Wisconsin, Idaho, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Maine, Indiana, North Dakota, Virginia and Alaska.

Surprisingly, 35 states – including Virginia, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania – and the District of Columbia had unemployment claims last week that were worse than the same week last year.
