Rome Unemployment Rate Holds Steady for the New Year

Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson said Thursday that Rome recorded an unemployment rate of 2.8 percent in December, unchanged from the previous month. A year ago, the rate was 2.8 percent.

The labor force decreased in Rome by 6 and ended the month with 45,617. That number went up by 900 when compared to December of 2022.
Rome finished the month with 44,358 employed residents. That number increased by 17 over-the-month and rose by 899 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Rome ended December with 45,400 jobs, an all-time high. That number increased by 100 from November to December and rose by 1,100 when compared to this time last year.
In December, initial unemployment claims decreased by 174 (-32%) in Rome. When you compare December 2023 claims to December 2022, claims were down by 176 (-32%).
