U.S. Travel Agency Air Ticket Sales Total $52.3B in the First Half of 2025

Today, Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC) announced that U.S.-based travel agency air ticket sales totaled $52.3 billion from January through June 2025 — a 1% decrease compared to the same period in 2024. Total passenger trips increased 2% over the same period, with U.S. domestic and international trips rising 2% and 3%, respectively.

"Airlines and travel agencies were challenged with a rapidly changing economic environment in the first half of the year," said Steve Solomon, chief commercial officer at ARC. "Despite the increased uncertainty, ARC's data shows the strength of air travel demand, underscoring the importance of commercial air travel connecting people and businesses."

June 2025 monthly travel agency air ticket sales were flat year over year, totaling $7.6 billion. Both U.S. domestic and international trips increased by 3% during the same period, while average ticket price increased by 2%.

Passenger trips issued through online travel agencies rose 7% year over year in June 2025, while those issued by leisure and corporate agencies both decreased 3% over the same period.

NDC transactions accounted for 21.9% of the total ARC reported and settled transactions in June 2025 — up from 21.5% in June 2024. In June 2025, a total of 968 travel agencies reported NDC transactions.
