AT&T and Human I-T provided Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia 100 refurbished laptops today to distribute to Rome residents in need.

The computers, funded by an AT&T contribution, were given to Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia youth and families. For more than 70 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia has served as a home and safe environment to youth in the community.

“At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia, our mission is to provide every child with the opportunities and resources they need to reach their full potential. These laptops from AT&T will make a real difference for our members, giving them access to critical learning tools, educational programs and pathways to success,” said Keara Leonard, Board President, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia. “We are appreciative of AT&T’s collaboration and support in empowering the next generation.”

“Access to technology is essential for our young people to succeed in school and beyond. I’m proud of the collaboration with AT&T and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia to help bridge the digital divide in our community,” said Mayor Craig McDaniel, City of Rome. “We appreciate AT&T’s continued investment in the Rome community and for helping ensure our youth have the digital tools they need to thrive.”

This effort is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.

“AT&T is committed to helping close the digital divide, and we are proud to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia by providing laptops to Rome youth and families,” said Brian Barfield, Regional Director of External Affairs, AT&T Georgia. “Through this collaboration, we are creating pathways of success for Rome youth and connecting more Georgians to greater possibility.”
