Berry College’s chief information officer has been elected to the EDUCASE board, a national association for information technology in higher education.
CIO Penny Evans-Plants, will begin a four-year term on the EDUCAUSE board this month. Evans-Plants has served as Berry’s chief information officer since 2011, providing leadership and vision for technology that supports the college’s mission and strategic goals. Under her leadership, the IT division has evolved from an operational function to a strategic partner in the college’s success. She leads 24 employees across enterprise systems, enterprise analytics, information security, project management, network operations, telecommunications and user support, and serves as a member of the president’s cabinet.
“I’m thrilled to join the EDUCAUSE Board at such a pivotal time for higher education. Technology continues to transform how we teach, learn, and lead – and I’m eager to contribute to bold, forward-thinking strategies that support both institutions and students,” said Evans-Plant. “One of EDUCAUSE’s core values is the belief that we can accomplish more together than alone. In today’s rapidly evolving landscape, collaboration across institutions is more important than ever.”
Evans-Plants also serves as a member of the EDUCAUSE Top 10 IT Issues Panel, co-leader of the Small Colleges Community Group and member of the EDUCAUSE Analytics Services Design Panel. She has presented at numerous EDUCAUSE annual conferences and other national and regional conferences on topics including data governance, IT and enrollment strategy, and inclusive leadership.
