Metro Rome Unemployment Rate Falls in September

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the one-county Rome Metropolitan Statistical Area recorded an unemployment rate of 3.3% in September, down four-tenths over the previous month. A year ago, the rate was 3.2%.
“Unemployment in Georgia dropped across nearly every region in September," said Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes. "As we approach the end of the year, we’re staying focused on keeping workers ready, businesses strong, and opportunity growing across the state.”
The labor force in Rome rose 115 from last month and decreased by 96 from September 2024, reaching 48,193.
Rome finished the month with 46,609 employed residents, up 304 over the month and down by 140 from September 2024.
Rome ended September with 47,300 jobs, down 200 over the month and up 100 from the same time last year.
In September, initial unemployment claims in Rome decreased by 18 from the previous month and rose by 107 from the same month a year ago, totaling 263.
