GDOT Completes Five Major Projects in NWGA

Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) recently finished five five major projects in Northwest Georgia and opened them to traffic. Contracts for the projects totaled more than $51 million, with the largest project being the Villa Rica Bypass in Carroll County. The $26.8 million project was built between State Routes 101 and 61 and now provides truck traffic a route around the downtown area to reduce congestion.

Other projects open to traffic:
Replacement of two bridges on SR 136 over the Coosawattee River and a nearby tributary in Gordon County, $9 million.
Replacement of the bridge on SR 293 over Dykes Creek in Floyd County, $8.5 million.
Bridge rehabilitation work on multiple bridges on I-59 in Dade County, $4.9 million.
Replacement of the bridge on Rehoboth Road over Spring Creek in Floyd County, $1.8 million.
