“Path from Pre-K to College” Annual Sweepstakes Now Open for Georgia Students

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Friday, March 27th, 2026

Planning for college can start earlier than many families realize. Georgia’s Path2College 529 Plan and the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) announced today the opening of the annual Path from Pre-K to College Sweepstakes, an initiative to help families begin saving for their children’s education while they are still in Pre-K.

The sweepstakes will award four Pre-K-aged children from across Georgia $1,529 toward a Path2College savings account. Winners will be randomly selected in four regions of the state — Metro Atlanta, Southeast Georgia, North Georgia, and South Georgia. In addition, the Georgia Pre-K programs where each winning child is enrolled will also receive $1,529. The sweepstakes is open to all children who attend a DECAL-licensed Georgia’s Pre-K Program. Parents, grandparents, and guardians can submit entries online March 1 - 31, 2026

DECAL and Georgia’s Path2College Plan have worked together since 2018 to promote early planning for future education expenses. Since the sweepstakes began, more than $81,000 has been awarded to Georgia students and Pre-K facilities. Funds saved in a Path2College account may be used for a variety of education-related expenses, including college, technical school, qualified apprenticeships, and certain K–12 education costs.*

“It’s never too early for families to start saving for their children’s college or other post-secondary plans,” said DECAL Commissioner Amy M. Jacobs. “Families can watch their savings grow as their child grows. Connecting Pre-K families with the Path2College 529 Plan gives them information and resources to support their children’s educational journeys from the beginning.”

Families are encouraged to open a Path2College account for their child and begin saving now. For more information about Georgia’s Path2College 529 Plan or to open an account, visit Path2College529.com or call (877) 424-4377.
